The K1 Smart Lock Box is a crowdfunded device that raised over $100,000 on IndieGoGo. It’s a convenient key lock box that’s perfect for AirBnB hosts and property owners who want to keep a spare key for guests or anyone who is prone to misplacing their set. With AES 128-bit encryption, the battery-operated lock box is also safe from hackers.
In the video above, you can see how easy the Smart Lock Box is to use. If a guest is arriving and no one is available to exchange the set of keys, the device is securely located near the entrance door. All the person has to do is use a fingerprint or enter the provided password on the keypad. The safe opens up with the key inside.
What makes the Smart Lock Box even more versatile is that it can also be opened remotely by the property owner through an app that can be downloaded onto their phone. The company YEEUU is hoping that the device will eliminate the need for key copying or face-to-face key exchanges.
“Designed for AirBnB hosts, condo and property managers or homeowners, K1 is the perfect solution for complete property access,” the company states on its IndieGoGo page. “Now a convenient key exchange can happen remotely at any time, day or night without the need to be on-site. K1 provides a modern solution for hosts and a better experience for guests.”
Property owners also have access to other modern features, such as the ability to generate a password that is only valid for five minutes and create temporary passwords over a set period of time or for a specific guest. The Smart Lock Box can store up to 50 fingerprints and can be programmed with a permanent password for family members and friends.
