No game night is complete without the classic game, Pictionary. If you’ve never played, all you have to do is draw something based on a prompt and have your teammate or mates guess what it is. It’s simple, yet satisfyingly fun. But now, Pictionary Air is taking things up a notch and giving the game a tech upgrade using augmented reality.
Shop: Pictionary Air, $15.69
Here’s how it works: Download the free Pictionary Air app on your smartphone or tablet, then point the screen at the illustrator. The illustrator will point the pen at the device and begin to draw in the air. Using the app, the other players will be able to see what the illustrator is drawing (although the illustrator will not).
With Pictionary Air, you can also interact with your drawings. For example, if you draw a dog, you can "pet" the dog.
Of course, hilarity ensues as you watch your friends attempt to draw a picture they can’t see themselves, so as a bonus, the app will let you record their performance and play it back, save and share with friends.
To give all teammates a better view, you can mirror your smart device with your TV. That way, your drawings will be up on the big screen, rather than having everyone crowd around a phone.
"This game is so much fun! It took a couple of rounds to get used to drawing in the air but eventually we got it and had a blast! I like to twist where you can interact with your drawing which allows you to think creatively. Also, I played this with my family and NONE of us are artists, but we still had a blast and were able to correctly guess a lot of the drawings. You definitely need good internet to play. Would highly recommend for both family & friend game nights!" wrote one Target reviewer.
