There's no getting around flossing. It's an important step in helping decrease plaque build-up. But is there a more effective way to clean your teeth than using string floss?

Well, for many people, the solution for dental hygiene is water flossing. It's a process that involves spraying water in between your teeth and under your gums to remove bacteria, plaque and food particles. And many Amazon shoppers love this Waterpik Aquarius Water Flosser. In fact, with over 17,000 reviews, it's the No. 1 best-selling power dental flosser on Amazon.

Shop: Waterpik Aquarius Water Flosser, $75.06 (Orig. $89.99)

According to the description, it claims that it can remove "99 percent of plaque" and that it's "up to 50 percent more effective for improving gum health versus string floss." Additionally, the brand also boasts that it's the only water flosser to earn the American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Acceptance.

For those worried about the state of their gums, this Waterpik flosser has massage modes to help with circulation, as well as two different modes for flossing and 10 pressure settings. And to make things easier, it also comes with a one-minute timer with a 30-second pacer to make sure you walk away with a "thorough" floss.

Although it might seem a little pricey, you do get a lot of equipment. According to the product description, it comes with several specialized dental tools including: the Aquarius Water flosser, three classic jet tips, one plaque seeker tip, one orthodontic tip "for cleaning braces," one pik pocket tip for "treating periodontal pockets" and one toothbrush tip for manually toothbrushing.

To use, fill up the water reservoir attached and turn on the appropriate settings you want. The reservoir holds 22 ounces which equals 90 seconds of floss time.

And while it's hard to say this is the only thing you need to get your teeth super clean, many reviewers include long testimonials about how effective the water flosser was.

"I never realized how I wasn’t really cleaning my teeth even with flossing," one reviewer wrote. "My periodontist suggested I buy a WaterPik device. I found this to be especially appealing as it’s designed very well and quite lovely on the bathroom counter. I went to a YouTube video on how to use these most effectively. It took a day or two of practice and now I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have my WaterPik. I love this one so much that I also bought the travel version which has its own little carrying pouch and fits right in my purse."
