Scent is a powerful trigger for memory, with the ability to transport you to a time and place in your past. Whether fresh linens remind you of a relaxing morning curled up in bed or the smell of shaving cream reminds you of your first haircut, scent is one of the core ways we experience life and memory.
Maison Margiela’s Replica fragrance line has figured out a way to bottle nostalgia, putting your favorite memory-triggering smells into perfumes. The brand says the Replica perfume line is inspired by “timeless experiences and familiar but forgotten moments.”
Each scent is a curated blend of unique scents that will trigger memories of tiny moments in life. The By The Fireside scent really smells like sitting around a crackling campfire with crickets chirping in the background, while the Beach Walk scent truly smells like sunscreen, salty skin and crashing waves.
All the fragrances in the Replica line are available in a .34 oz roller ball travel size and a full 3.4 oz size. While the travel size is $30, the full size is $130. For a luxury fragrance, that pricing is mid-range. But to test almost all the Replica scents before purchasing, customers can buy the brand’s Memory Box for only $35.
