If you can’t make it down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year, throw your own party with this $4 kit that has everything you need to make the most festive king cake.

Shop: Mam Papaul’s Mardi Gras King Cake Mix with Praline Filling, $3.47 (Orig. $7.49)

King cake is usually made of brioche dough, filled with sweet cinnamon, chocolate and cream cheese and decorated with frosting and sprinkles that are traditionally gold, green and purple. It’s eaten between Jan. 6 (King’s Day) and Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), but really you can eat it whenever you want.

Within the cake, bakers hide a plastic baby or other trinket, and while theories vary on exactly why, whoever finds it in their slice today has to host a party and make the king cake the following year. Plus, it’s said to bring a little good luck.

While king cake might sound hard to make, this kit by Mam Papaul’s comes with the dough mix, knead/mixing bag, yeast, praline filling mix, three bags of colored sugar, glaze and a plastic baby. It’s everything you need, and right now you can find it at World Market on sale for only $3.47 (originally $7.49). The mix is also available on Amazon for $15, but may ship a bit later.

So, celebrate Mardi Gras with your own king cake and as they say in NOLA, let the good times roll!
