Having a quality umbrella is arguably a necessity for everyday life, but it’s quite a rarity to find one that aligns with its hefty list of claims, with the top priorities simply being to keep you dry while remaining intact. And with more rainy days to come this spring, we are gearing up to fend off the elements.

Blending both fashion and function, the Blunt Metro Travel Umbrella packs tons of features and essentials into one compact package that shoppers have both tested and approved. Currently, on sale for 40 percent off at Nordstrom, the retailer says these “ridiculously strong umbrellas are engineered to handle seriously wild weather.”

“Tested under extreme weather conditions,” the Blunt Metro Umbrella is said to be extremely durable and built to last, unlike the flimsy umbrellas that we tend to throw out each year. Thanks to the fact that these umbrellas have been wind-tested at 55 mph and have a Radial Tensioning System to withstand powerful gusts, it is the reliable companion you need when facing strong winds and rainstorms.

Measuring 14 inches in length with a 40-inch canopy diameter and weighing under a pound, this item is also properly designed for travel and to occupy minimal space in your bag.

Another feature that is exclusive to this collapse-resistant umbrella is its double struts and blunt tips — a patented innovation. The company outlines each feature, sharing that the blunt tips allow users to freely protect themselves from the elements without bumping into others on the sidewalk. The “BLUNT tips open like miniature umbrellas into their specially designed pockets, evenly distributing tension right to the edge, where it is most needed.”

This rounded feature also makes the umbrella safe for children to use (no need to worry about sharp ends poking them!) and makes it ideal for packing in your suitcase, too. After all, the brand puts each umbrella through a 38-point quality control check to ensure that you’re getting a reliable product.

The Metro line of umbrellas also come in an assortment of colors including black, charcoal, blush, aqua blue, red and more. Right now, Nordstrom has the red and aqua blue shades marked down.

One pleased Nordstrom shopper said, “Blunt umbrellas are the best! Even in high winds, this umbrella has held up great (it can flip inside out and back with no problem), and the literal blunt edges are aesthetically pleasing and also functional.”

While some users did not like the fact that you have to manually close the umbrella with your hands, the umbrella does open with the touch of the button on its handle. Others found the price tag to be too expensive, but since you will most likely have to replace your umbrella less often thanks to Blunt’s top quality, we think it’s a worthwhile purchase.

Rated as one of the top umbrellas on the market according to Business Insider, Good Housekeeping, Faveable and The Strategist, Blunt holds its own against other customer favorite brands like Repel, Samsonite and LifeTek.
