SEE IT: Upstate N.Y. dog tops world record by fitting 6 tennis balls in his mouth, owners say

Big mouth, wet nose, can’t lose!

A dog from upstate New York appears to have shattered a world record by holding six tennis balls in his mouth at one time.

Finley Molloy, a 6-year-old golden retriever from Canandaigua, appears to have topped the 2003 mark set by a Dallas dog named Augie in 2003, Rochester’s Democrat & Chronicle reported last week.

Cheri, Rob and Erin Molloy filed documents to have their dog’s impressive feat recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, which is headquartered in London. While awaiting that confirmation, the Molloys posted video on Instagram that appears to make their case.

“A lil snippet of ONE of my world record videos,” reads a caption alongside the video on @finnyboymolloy. “And for those who are asking — all paperwork is submitted and in @guinnessworldrecords hands... fingers crossed everyone!!!”

Some of Finley’s neighbors are starstruck.

“Hello from Seneca Falls!” tweeted Tina Rook. “Just read up on Finley today. Exciting to live so close to a star!!”

The wide-mouthed dog’s Instagram page shows him working his way up to the record. Some photos show him with a ball or two in his mouth while video posted Jan. 8 captures him walking by a half-dozen balls laid out in his yard, but unmotivated to try and pick them all up at once.

On Feb. 3, he was photographed with a couple balls in his mouth to celebrate National Golden Retriever Day.

Apparently Finley isn’t too old to learn new tricks. He only started carrying large amounts of tennis balls in his mouth 2 years ago.
