Most weighted blankets look like the same plush or fuzzy throw that while cozy, aren't always stylish. Bearaby weighted blankets are different in that they're made with beautifully woven, sustainable fabrics that look and feel luxurious. However, the blankets are so popular that they were sold out leading up to the holidays and during a re-stock the day after Christmas, sold out within 3 hours. But finally, today, Jan. 15, they're back in stock in all colors and weights!

Bearaby weighted blankets have "couch-worthy" designs

First, the important stuff: Bearaby makes all of its products with sustainably-made, organic and vegan fabrics. The weighted blankets in particular are woven with wide loops for a natural air-flow to keep you at a comfortable temperature while you sleep, aka not hot and sweating. The heavy material also provides an even weight distribution, unlike other weighted blankets on the market that use glass beads that can shift throughout the night.

"With Bearaby we wanted to take everything that scientists know about weighted bedding and bundle it up with innovative textiles into one delightful experience that helps people sleep naturally and feel better," Bearaby founder and CEO Kathrin Hamm wrote on the brand's website.

Beyond having all of the benefits of a weighted blanket, Bearaby's designs are stylish enough to drape across the back of your sofa or throw on top of your made bed. It's no wonder the brand has gained such popularity within its first year of business (yes, just one year!) and previously sold out of its top-sellers like the Classic Napper and Velvet Napper.

The benefits of a weighted blanket

Bearaby cites a few major health benefits of sleeping under a weighted blanket: Using one can help bring you into a deeper sleep, help reduce anxiety, reduce cortisol and stimulate the production of serotonin by providing deep touch pressure, which can foster a calming sensation, similar to a gentle hug or cuddling.

"Deep touch pressure is one of the primary kinds of sensory information that is calming and organizing to our sensory nervous system," Teresa May-Benson, occupational therapist and executive director of the Spiral Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to research and education on sensory integration, told Good Housekeeping.

I've personally tested out the Bearaby Classic Napper and can confirm, I slept absolutely great. And as someone who has always had a hard time winding down and falling asleep, that says a lot! The best part was that I didn't wake up feeling hot, like I have with other weighted blankets. I even laid it across my down comforter, being that it's winter and my apartment can get pretty cold. I can only imagine that the Napper will be great for using in the summertime when it's hot and minimal bedding is preferred.

How to pick the right weight for you

Bearaby makes three types of weighted blankets: the Classic Napper, Velvet Napper and Tree Napper. They range in price from $249 to $279, depending on the weight: 15 pounds, 20 pounds or 25 pounds. To find the right weight for you, the brand recommends choosing a blanket that's 10 percent of your body weight. If you're in between weight categories, they suggest going with the next higher weight category.

The Classic Napper comes in several colors including ivory, dark gray, light gray, dark blue and pink. The Velvet Napper comes in ivory, navy, blush, platinum and dark yellow. The Tree Napper comes in white, blue and light gray, and is made with an extra soft, breathable fabric. Also, something to note: For each one purchased, Bearaby plants a tree in California.

Bearaby also makes a weighted comforter starting at $199.
