Melania Trump reveals her 2020 resolution, but President Trump won't say his 'out loud'

The first couple rang in the new year at a high-profile, lavish bash thrown by the president himself at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla. But, before they could toast to 2020 and cheers to Donald Jr. for his 42nd birthday with champagne, President Trump and Melania were stopped by reporters and asked about their new year's resolutions.

While entering the party, Melania revealed that her hope for 2020 was "peace in the world," and while President Trump agreed with his wife, he told reporters that he didn't want to say his in public.

"I'm not sure you're supposed to say a resolution out loud," he told reporters.

The couple joined other members of the first family, including Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, Eric Trump and wife Lara, as well as Tiffany Trump and her boyfriend Michael Boulous, for the celebration. Some of Trump's grandchildren were also in attendance.

For the annual black-tie celebration, Melania Trump opted for a black $4,700 Givenchy gown embellished with gold sequins from the high-fashion designer's Fall 2019 collection.

President Trump, who is spending 17 days in Palm Beach for his break, also celebrated the new year with Fox commentator Lou Dobbs and socialites Somers and Jonathan Farkas.
