When best friends and founders of Caraa, Carmen Chen Wu and Aaron Luo, met in New York City, it seemed like fate. Both Chinese-born and raised in Spain, the duo had strikingly similar backgrounds and even found out that their grandparents had been business partners decades prior.

"That realization was like kismet – and we knew we were destined to have a partnership of our own. Carmen’s background is in luxury fashion, and my family has decades of experience in the supply chain industry. We joined forces and Car(men) and Aa(ron) was formed," Aaron said.

One of the most popular bags they've created, is the Studio Bag. Upon moving to NYC, the founders were looking for ways to adapt quickly to the city's fast-paced lifestyle, so the idea for a beautifully designed, yet utilitarian bag that could hold all of their things to get them through the day came about. Nothing on the market seemed to exist, yet.

"The Studio Bag was the first bag that we designed to truly solve the problem that we faced. It is the perfect bag for a city professional – it’s ultra-functional, chic, and super high quality. It packs everything you could ever want in a bag: a backpack that converts to a crossbody or satchel, antimicrobial waterproof lining, a vented shoe compartment, a quick access phone pocket, and a jewelry pocket, just to name a few of its features," Carmen said.

It also comes in a few different sizes and several colors, including black, sand, oxblood, army, embellished and the most popular, a pinky nude called "vaqueta."

Flash forward to almost five years later, Caraa now has several unisex styles, true gym bags, diaper bags, duffles and more. "Caraa bags are for women who are active and highly organized, and who have personality and style," Carmen said. "This is who she is, and our challenge is to design without compromising for her. We marry form with function in our designs like no other bags ever have."
