Meghan Markle and Prince Harry make last-minute shakeup to Thanksgiving plans

The Duchess of Sussex is staying true to her American roots with her holiday celebrations.

While it was initially reported that she and Prince Harry would be flying to Los Angles to celebrate baby Archie's first Thanksgiving with Meghan's mother, Doria, insiders reveal that the royal couple has made a last-minute change to their plans and will instead "bring a taste of the American tradition" to London.

"We understand that Harry and Meghan had originally planned to spend Thanksgiving in LA, but our sources tell us that is now not the case," said The Daily Mail's Charlie Lankston to Access. "Meghan’s mother Doria will fly over and spend Thanksgiving with them in the UK."

According to the publication, the duchess is said to be spending the holiday on Thursday by volunteering at a homeless shelter in London.

However, that's not to say that Meghan won't be stateside anytime soon and that a visit to Los Angeles is still in the cards. "She’ll want to be at home with her mother at least for a small amount of the trip,” said Lankston.

The couple's decision behind their month-and-a-half long break comes after months of increased scrutiny on the couple. This month, Buckingham Palace also confirmed reports that Meghan and Harry will be skipping the queen's traditional Christmas celebration in Sandringham to "recharge their batteries," a decision that was apparently approved by her majesty herself.

"This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen," the palace clarified.
