Kate Middleton and Prince William had a lot to say about their children at royal engagement
Even at work engagements, their children are not very far from Duchess Kate and Prince William's thoughts!
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for a very glamorous evening on Monday night to attend the annual Royal Variety Performance. The royal couple opted for their black-tie best for their night at the theater, which was met with a number of musical performances from "Mary Poppins" and "Come From Away" to raise money for the organization.
Prior to the show starting, Kate and William spent time meeting many of the shows' cast members from London's West End, where they talked a lot about their children's love of musical theater. The duchess even revealed that George and Charlotte had asked to attend Monday evening's event with their parents, but Kate told them "not on a school night."
While Prince William excitedly relayed to cast members his love of "Mary Poppins," Kate mentioned that bubbly Charlotte, in particular, loves performing at home the most.
"[Kate] said that her children love performing at home, particularly Charlotte. She told us how lucky we were to be on stage in the West End and asked how we managed to do it with all our schoolwork. I can’t tell you how exciting it was to meet them," said "Mary Poppins" actress, Nuala Peberby, 14, to Hello! Magazine.
Later, while chatting with six-year-old Aurelia from acrobatic group Zurcarohc, the duchess said that George and Charlotte are very into gymnastics, especially cartwheels and handstands.
The yearly Royal Variety fundraiser, which helps raise money to help hundreds of entertainers throughout the UK who are in need of aid, whether due to health issues or old age, is frequently attended by senior members of the royal family on behalf of Queen Elizabeth. Last year, a newly pregnant Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the engagement, which featured "Hamilton" performances and was hosted by comedian Greg Davies, while the Cambridges had attended the year prior and in 2014.
