How to fight the flu with food

Annual flu vaccinations are important because the virus is always changing, but there is more you can do throughout the season to keep the flu at a distance.

Healthy eating becomes even more vital during flu season and research shows that antioxidants in food help prevent disease. Vitamins also help kids grow strong bones and muscles and help battle infections.

And if you think it is just about produce - think again! Foods rich in zinc and selenium like red meat and fortified bread can help too.
