Try these 3 easy hummus recipes, from creamy avocado to beet flavors

Impress your friends with three different variations of your own homemade hummus. Whip up creamy green avocado, electric pink beet, or go for a more traditional take on the classic dip.

Classic Hummus

Ingredients:

  • 4 cloves peeled garlic

  • 4 cups canned chickpeas, drained

  • 1 cup tahini, with oil

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil, plus more for garnish

  • 2 lemons, juiced

  • salt, to taste

  • pepper, to taste

  • splash of water

  • cumin (for garnish)

  • smoked paprika (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, chop garlic. Then, add chickpeas, extra virgin olive oil, tahini, lemon juice, salt and pepper and blend. Add a splash of water to mixture to create a smoother consistency.

  2. Garnish with a drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of cumin and a pinch of smoked paprika.

Avocado Hummus

Ingredients:

  • 4 cloves peeled garlic

  • 4 cups canned chickpeas, drained

  • 1 cup tahini, with oil

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 lemons, juiced

  • salt, to taste

  • pepper, to taste

  • splash of water

  • 1 ripe avocado

  • 1/3 cup chopped cilantro

  • salsa verde (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, chop garlic. Then, add chickpeas, extra virgin olive oil, tahini, lemon juice, salt and pepper and blend. Add a splash of water to mixture to create a smoother consistency.

  2. Add avocado and cilantro and blend until well-combined.

  3. Garnish with a spoonful of salsa verde.

Beet Hummus

Ingredients:

  • 4 cloves peeled garlic

  • 4 cups canned chickpeas, drained

  • 1 cup tahini, with oil

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil, plus more for garnish

  • 2 lemons, juiced

  • salt, to taste

  • pepper, to taste

  • splash of water

  • 1 cup beets, cooked

  • fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, chop garlic. Then, add chickpeas, extra virgin olive oil, tahini, lemon juice, salt and pepper and blend. Add a splash of water to mixture to create a smoother consistency.

  2. Add beets and blend until well-combined.

  3. Garnish with a drizzle of olive oil and chopped fresh cilantro.
