This was the top fashion trend at the 2019 Emmy Awards

Celebrities brought their best and boldest looks to the 2019 Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 22. There was one fashion trend, however, that seemed to dominate the purple carpet: red and pink color-blocking.

"This Is Us" costars Mandy Moore and Susan Kelechi Watson twinned in red gowns with pink silk sleeves, while stars Taraji P. Henson of "Empire" and Marisa Tomei dazzled in dresses of the same color palette.

Color-blocking pink and red isn't a new trend worn on the red carpet. If anything, it's actually a repeated one. In the past, celebrities have famously paired pink with reddish-orange or deep fuchsia shades.

Taylor Swift donned the look at the Grammy's in 2016, opting for a bright orange sleeveless crop top paired with a full hot pink skirt while picking up the Album of the Year award for "1989." At that same event, Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman wore a red and pink one-shouldered gown. Other celebrities like Emma Stone, Mindy Kaling, Leslie Mann and Victoria Beckham have worn the trend over the years as well.

But, like most trends, red and pink color-blocking seems to be making a comeback. Luckily, it's an easy one for people of all sizes, colors and personalities to pull off, whether in the office or out on the town.
