We found the perfect leather tote bag for taking on a long flight or wearing every day

The key to packing for a trip, whether it be a long weekend or a three-week hiatus, is only taking things you can use more that once. For instance, pack a pair of jeans you can wear a few times, a pair of shoes that go with more than one outfit and a bag that can hold all of your things, while looking stylish enough to carry day-to-day.

Away's newest release, the Latitude and Longitude Totes, hit the mark when it comes to versatility and wearability. They come in four colors—black and buff with silver hardware and pine and ruby with champagne hardware—and are available in-store and online for $245.

The Latitude Tote, $245

We snagged the Latitude Tote in buff, the wider silhouette of the two, and were immediately impressed. It's made with Italian leather that feels soft, yet durable, with a magnetic closure at the top. Here are some of our favorite features that make it the perfect bag to take on a trip, from the airport to shopping to dinner.

Roomy Interior

We like that the totes have a roomy interior. Inside the Latitude Tote, we could fit a pair of sneakers, an outfit for the gym, a small makeup bag, a hairbrush, wallet, headphones and a few other daily essentials. With it being filled to the top, however, the magnet closures couldn't exactly shut, but removing the sneakers did the trick. And, after removing the sneakers and clothes, we were able to fit a 15" Mac Book Pro laptop with the bag closed. (The Longitude Tote will fit a 13" laptop.)

Removable Inside Pouch

We like that there aren't any interior pockets that loose hair-ties and old chapstick inevitably get lost in. Instead, the totes come with a detachable interior zip pouch with a pocket and strap for holding keys. Inside, the pouch can hold your wallet, passport, keys—all the important stuff. But, take it out and it can serve as a simple clutch for quick errands or for when having a large bag just isn't ideal.

Removable Exterior Strap

On one side, the totes feature a removable exterior strap that attach to any suitcase around the extendable handle, so you can safely place it on top of your carry-on without worrying about it falling off. That way, when you're walking around at the airport looking for your gate, you don't to have to hold a thing.

Outside of traveling, you can remove the strap; it clips onto two side clips that when not in use, you can securely tuck away into hidden seams. (Genius!)

Away first launched in 2016, starting with what they call "the perfect suitcase, designed with features that solve real-life problems." You've probably seen their carry-on with that comes with an ejectable battery for charing your phone and other technology (Meghan Markle is a fan!). Now, according to the brand's LinkedIn page, they're expanding into new categories such as apparel wellness and lifestyle accessories, like tote bags.
