NYFW: Lela Rose transports guests to 'Café Lela'

Updated

If you let yourself get swept away by the sound of live acoustic music, the croissants on the delicately decorated table settings in front of you and the delicately adorned fan in your hand, you may have forgotten you were not at a waterside cafe somewhere but at Cafe Lela, the Spring 2020 show by designer Lela Rose.

Set against the waterfront at New York City's Pier 64, Rose sent models down the runway in bright florals, cityscape printed dresses and midriff-baring separates that erred to the side of delicate thanks to romantic fabrics and flowy silhouettes.

Playing with a neon yet subdued color palette (an near oxymoron that Rose manages to nail season after season), standout pieces stayed fresh with carwash hemlines and bold patterns in variations of draped crêpe, tulle and cotton.

Rose sent models down the runway in low, piecey buns tied with varying pastel shades of twine, and minimal face makeup characterized by rosy cheeks and bold, rouge lips, playing to the ethereal, yet polished vibe of the collection.

The runway itself was uniquely made of yellow rose petals, which was tied together by the models manicures by Color Street in the shade Lima Lemon -- the no-fuss, peel and stick nail strips furthered the effortless atmosphere that guests relished in.
