NYFW: Tibi gives suiting a soft edge

On Sunday, The Times Center in Midtown Manhattan became the backdrop for Tibi's Spring 2020 runway show.

With pops of peach, sky blue and teal, the otherwise neutral collection from designer Amy Smilovic was exceedingly wearable and much less structured than Tibi lines of the past. Blazers were given rounded shoulders, while slouchy pants were given extra volume.

Each outfit seemed to have an overall lived-in appearance, yet every piece was created with thoughtful details -- think cargo pockets, a drop waist or unexpected texture. Smilovic explained to Vogue that, "If there isn’t something a little strange, our customer doesn’t want it."

Standout pieces included a pleated, architectural top with a ruffled hem that came in both peach and white variations, and a long-sleeved green knit tie-dye dress with a cutout back.
