One incredibly inspirational nine-year-old is making headlines after becoming the first double amputee to walk in New York Fashion Week.

Daisy-May Demetre has been the talk of the exclusive six-day event after taking the runway for luxury children's line Lulu et Gigi Couture on Sunday. Demetre, 9, was born with fibular hemimelia and required a double amputation when she was just 18 months old.

The Birmingham, UK resident began modeling at age eight after her father Alex saw an advertisement from a disabled modeling agency. Most recently, she received huge recognition after doing cartwheels down the runway at London Kids Fashion Week in April.

"Daisy's a special, unique child doing stuff all the doctors told me would never really be possible," said her father, Alex, to CBS. Later this month, Demetre will be heading to Paris Fashion Week to again walk for Lulu et Gigi Coutureon at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

"Just never give up, and just do what you can do," she said in an interview.
