Christian Siriano looks to modern pop art with lamé lips for Spring 2020

Modern pop married to luxe lamé were the key elements for Christian Siriano's Spring/Summer 2020 Ready To Wear collection.

With massive canvases at the center of the runway at Manhattan's Gotham Hall, Ashley Longshore got to work on her iconic modern pop masterpieces -- painting the faces of Frida Kahlo, Lady Gaga and supermodel Coco Rocha -- who opened the show in a mint cold-shouldered number.

'[Longshore's] women empowerment statements also inspire the silhouettes in the collection to celebrate the body and the women wearing them," Siriano wrote in the show notes.

Females of all shapes, sizes, ages, and color diversified the runway in whimsical uses of color and texture. Lip print textiles came in the form of trousers, asymmetrical dresses and tops, while lamé fabrications were front and center in hues of greens, golds, pinks and voluminous rainbow stripes.

There were also a few novelty evening gowns, like a gun-metal fringed plunging dress or the black sheer leggy dresses waiting to be worn for the awards seasons circuit.

For the men, Siriano's take on evening wear introduced a strapless bustier in addition to sheer blousing paired with Bermuda trousers.

The front row also brought out some A-list names: Lucy Liu, Jennifer Coolidge, Ashley Ggraham, Alicia Silverstone and Meghan Trainer were amongst the famous faces taking in the beauty of Siriano's diverse runway.

Whether his customers are heading to a Hollywood premiere or to the office, the "Project Runway's" alum collection offered separates for all types of real women.

"I wanted the collection to feel playful, colorful, bright and romantic, but still powerful and exciting," the American designer explained.
