Add it to her list of accomplishments—Tracee Ellis Ross is launching her own haircare line! Ross shared the news on her Instagram on Tuesday, Sept. 4 and said the line, called PATTERN, will be for those specifically with "curly, coily and tight-textured hair."
PATTERN will include products like hair serum, shampoo, large bottles of conditioner and leave-in product in seven different formulas made with safe ingredients for those with 3b to 4c curls. While the exact prices of the products have not yet been released, Ross shared that they'll have "accessible pricing, because everyone should have access to their most beautiful hair in their own shower."
Ross also revealed that PATTERN has been 20 years in the making. Yes, 20! It is "the result of 20 years of dreaming, 10 years in the making (I wrote my first brand pitch in 2008, right when girlfriends finished ) and 2 years of working with chemists. I’m so excited to share this with y’all," she wrote, before sharing that she and her panel personally tried 74 different samples to get exactly what she wanted.
"Growing up, society told me there was a right way to wear my hair and a right way to look. Those ideals didn’t match what I saw in the mirror, so I tried to beat my curls into submission — putting body lotion in my hair, sleeping in rollers, blowouts, relaxers, texturizers, ponytails so tight they gave me a headache; and I even whipped out an iron (the kind you use for clothes) in an attempt to straighten it that way," Ross shared in another post on her feed.
Nevertheless, the line was inspired by Ross' own hair woes and frustrations. PATTERN will officially be available on patternbeauty.com starting Monday, Sept. 9 starting at 9 a.m. EST.
