Serena Williams' best outfits ever, both on and off the court

Whether it's on the court or the red carpet, Serena Williams knows how to bring the heat. The court has essentially become a runway for the 37-year-old tennis champion, whose fashion choices make nearly as many headlines as her performances.

As one of the best tennis players of all time, the Grand Slam athlete doesn't take her platform lightly. She regularly uses her time in the spotlight to bring attention to plights such as equal pay, her experience with racism in the industry and, most recently, sexism.

And a lot of the times, she uses the clothes she wears to do all the talking. For someone who has always dreamed of being a fashion designer, and even studied it in between tournaments, we expect nothing less from Serena.

"My biggest joy is that I know that I’m doing something that I’ve always wanted to do, that I always dreamed of doing. I went to fashion school back in the early 2000s," she told Essence about starting her own fashion line, Serena.

"This didn’t just pop up for me. It’s something I’ve literally been doing and designing for my whole life. I’d never had an opportunity to have a meaningful partnership where I could be more creative and have a more global reach."

From catsuits to tutus, the Twitter-loved Swarovski "Swoosh" brooch and designer sneakers on the red carpet, take a look back at every time Serena Williams' made a statement with her outfit.
