Universal announces fourth new theme park, Epic Universe

Exciting news for theme park lovers!

On Thursday, Universal Orlando announced that it was adding a fourth addition to its collection of theme parks called Epic Universe. The park is currently under construction on a 750-acre plot of land in Orlando, Florida, and will also include hotels, restaurants and shops in addition to its rides.

Epic Universe "represents the single-largest investment Comcast NBCUniversal has made in its theme park business and in Florida overall," said Comcast CEO Brian Roberts of Universal's parent company's latest project.

According to CNBC, this is the first theme park Universal has built since 1999 when Islands of Adventure opened. Currently, Orlando is home to three Universal properties, including Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay.
