Kate Middleton watched videos of Princess Diana for her royal training

Marrying into the royal family doesn't only give you a fancy title and require you to learn royal etiquette. There are reportedly intense security trainings (involving a fake kidnapping!) and media training. For the latter, it appears that Kate Middleton looked to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, for how to deal with the press.

According to royal expert and author Katie Nicholl, Kate's media training actually began when she was only a student at St. Andrews and dating Prince William.

In her book "Kate: The Future Queen," Nicholl's writes:

"Bizarrely, she had been advised to watch footage of the late Princess of Wales in order to learn how to deal with the paparazzi, notorious for being aggressive in their pursuit of a picture, taunting their prey in order to get a response. At the Palace, there was a concerted effort not to allow Kate to be exposed to the same ruthless treatment."

Kate wasn't yet a royal, and therefore did not have any protection officers when she was out on her own. She was reportedly told not to pose for pictures or interact with the paparazzi at all, but was given access to the royal press office and advisors for support.

Today, the Duchess of Cambridge has her own security team. Nonetheless, she's a total pro when it comes to living life as a royal.
