Megan Rapinoe's red carpet staple? A powerful, statement-making blazer

Megan Rapinoe knows how to bring the heat to the red carpet.

With lilac hair and a spunky attitude to match, the 34-year-old champion soccer player can command a red carpet just as well as she can dominate a field.

In the four days since bringing the world to its feet with a superb performance at the 2019 World Cup, Rapinoe has been celebrating across the country with the rest of the women's national soccer team in a rainbow of red carpet and television appearances.

Her most recent look at Wednesday night's ESPY Awards probably dominated as many headlines as her World Cup win. And rightfully so. In true Rapinoe fashion, it was bold.

The plunging black blazer, Coach leather shorts and Christian Louboutin oxford shoes proved to be one of most eccentric and daring looks on the awards show's red carpet. But in fact, a powerful, statement-making blazer has been essential to the athlete's red carpet look ever since she jumped on our radar in 2011.

Her fashionable spin on menswear comes as no surprise, considering her recent accomplishments in the fashion industry, which have been tailored to gender-neutral apparel. She even said she wants to be a fashion designer when she "grows up" just a few weeks ago.

Megan and her twin, Rachael, started their own clothing company, "Rapinoe," to help people tap into their own individuality through fashion. And in June 2019, Megan joined Tobin Heath and Christen Press on her team to launch Re-inc, another lifestyle brand focused on gender-neutral clothing.

We have no doubt we're going to be seeing many more blazers in the near future. Scroll through above to see more of Megan's statement-making styles!
