As a first responder during the September 11th attacks, Jason Charles learned the importance of being able to adapt in any kind of disaster.

For nine years, Charles has been preparing for the "end of the world" by collecting and storing supplies for an impending disaster. As a "prepper," the New Yorker has been gathering food, medical supplies and rafts and reading up on survival skills. Charles has passed on the skills he's learned as a first responder and as a "prepper" to his own children.

"I keep it fun," Charles told AOL Lifestyle. "I don't make it military restricted... but this is the norm for them." From finding shelter to building a fire, Charles has a plan in place in case disaster strikes. See more of Charles' life as a prepper in the video above.
