Kate Middleton wants her look to be 'younger and more modern,’ makes bold fashion statement at nephew Archie’s christening

Kate Middleton inadvertently upstaged nephew Archie on his big day.

The Duchess of Cambridgestood out from the crowd in a bold, colorful outfit in the British royal family’s official group photo from Archie’s christening — and it’s no accident.

“Kate felt like she was in a bit of a style rut and thought she needed a little edge,” a source told People. “She’s consciously worked on getting her look to be a bit younger and more modern, and it’s worked!”

The group photo from Saturday’s baptism featured baby Archie front and center with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, mom Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Surrounding the trio are seven members of their extended family, including Harry’s big brother, Prince William, and his wife, Duchess Kate.

While most of them sport muted tones like white, beige or navy blue, Kate, 37, stands out in a pink Stella McCartney dress, bright red heels and a red headpiece.

According to People’s source, it’s all part of Kate’s plan to step up her fashion game. "She looks amazing, and she is getting lots of compliments about it,” the person said.
