My Unique House: Woman loves mermaids so much, she designed her house after them

Updated

Welcome to My Unique House, a weekly video series that profiles the most unconventional homes around the country and their equally interesting owners. Check back next week for another wild story, from a mermaid-inspired bungalow, an old airplane transformed into the ultimate bachelor pad and an entire house dedicated to cats.

Lois Goodman loves mermaids so much, she believes she was one in another lifetime. The Austin resident has taken her love for mermaids so far, she even designed her home after the mystical creatures.

"I prefer water to land any day and I need to surround myself with water and mermaids," Goodman explained to AOL Lifestyle. For her, that means a driveway dedicated to water, an underwater-inspired backyard mural and even a mermaid-designed car. Her home has 29 different colored walls, including a 50-square foot bathroom with 11 bright hues and a light show.

The home, which Goodman has deemed "Peaceful Haven," is both tranquil and peaceful. Her sea mural is brightly painted with depictions of aquatic life, including whales and jellyfish, underwater fauna and the like. It even features a mermaid with Goodman's face on it.

But her mermaid motifs don't stop there: She even designed her car, named "Mermania," with three different mermaids and a shell-embellished tail on the top. "I love riding in art as much as I love living in art," Goodman concluded.
