Melania Trump channels Princess Diana during visit to Buckingham Palace

The Trumps have landed in London!

President Trump kicked off his three-day tour of the UK on Monday with a visit to Buckingham Palace. Joining the president's meeting with the Queen of England was Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, as well as the first lady, who spent the morning with Her Majesty and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Melania, who opted for a subtle pink Dior suit for the family's first state visit in 2018, took her wardrobe up a notch with a more dramatic look from Dolce & Gabbana, complete with a matching hat from Hervé Pierre. Many Twitter users were quick to notice just how much the first lady resembled one of Britain's most famous fictional characters, Eliza Doolittle from "My Fair Lady."

In addition to the Ascot-inspired comparison, many royal fans couldn't help but call out Melania's alikeness to yet another royal icon: the late Princess Diana. The first lady's tailored navy and white ensemble is notably similar to many of the late royal's most identifiable looks, including a ceremony to mark VJ Day in 1995.

"So has anyone noticed that Melania seems to be wearing a classic Princess Diana outfit on her state trip?" wrote one Twitter observer. Wrote another, "Melania Trump's outfit today is a lovely homage to Princess Diana, down to the tilt of the hat. Sweet."

In addition to the ceremonial welcome at Buckingham Palace, the rest of the Trumps' brief trip will include a private lunch with Prince Harry, a state banquet, a meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May and a tour of Westminster Abbey.
