My Unique House: Divorced dad turns an old airplane into his bachelor pad
Welcome to My Unique House, a weekly video series that profiles the most unconventional homes around the country and their equally interesting owners. Check back next week for another wild story, from a mermaid-inspired bungalow, an old airplane transformed into the ultimate bachelor pad and an entire house dedicated to cats.
Joe Axline is taking his childhood dreams to new heights.
The television show "The Magician" left such a profound impact on the Texas resident, that after 23 years of marriage and a divorce, Axeline began his search for a new home -- in an airplane. Four years ago, the father-of-two purchased an MD-80 which he then totally refurbished, complete with three beds, electricity and plumbing. He's even utilized the plane's old amenities, including an overhead cabin, captain's closet and the cockpit.
"It's a true house that I have 100 percent of. Most poor men when they get married, they only get the garage," said Axline, who aptly named his home transformation "Project Freedom."
