Louis Vuitton’s latest prototype handbags feature internet browsers

Louis Vuitton is making the latest splash in fashion: computer screens.

The French fashion house introduced a line of handbags that will potentially feature built-in flexible displays made of AMOLED technology—the same LED lights found in some smartphones—that allow for a 1920x1440 resolution.

The two prototype screen handbags debuted at Louis Vuitton's Cruise 2020 fashion show in New York City, and people have since gone nuts.

In a statement, the company said the bags are "the basis for reconsidering the digital Canvas of the Future" and that it is "always in search of the fusion of savoir-faire and innovation."

The futuristic bags also made their debut on Louis Vuitton's Instagram, which teased one screen bag with what appears to be a scrollable web browser and a display of city views.

"The idea is to think of the handbag as an extension of the smartphone," a spokesperson for Louis Vuitton told Engadget.

The handbags were fitted with screens by Royole, which manufactured one of the world's first foldable smartphones, the FlexPai.

There's no word on whether these fashion-techy handbags will make it past their prototype stage, but it's not far off from the futuristic direction we're headed! Shop LV here.
