Meghan Markle wore designer Grace Wales Bonner to introduce Baby Sussex

Baby Sussex has one fashionable mama.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped out on Wednesday at St. George's Chapel in Windsor to introduce their new bundle of joy to the world. Their first public debut as a family of three comes just two days after the baby was born.

And while the couple, who is quickly approaching their one year wedding anniversary, has yet to reveal their son's name, they didn't hold back on gushing over their newborn.

"He's just been a dream, so it’s been a special couple of days," Meghan said at the photocall. The new mom marked the occasion with Manolo Blahniks and a belted white trench dress by designer Grace Wales Bonner. It was previously reported that the duchess opted for her go-to designer Givenchy for her family's debut, but instead, 28-year-old Bonner is behind the outfit.

While the 37-year-old prioritizes female designers for her various royal engagements, there may be another reason behind Meghan's choice to wear Bonner. Like Meghan, Bonner is of mixed heritage having been born to a British mother and Jamaican father. Despite her young age, the creative boasts a long list of prestigious industry awards including LVMH awards, acknowledgment from the British Fashion Awards and the 2019 finalist of the British Fashion Council's Designer Fund.

According to the Business of Fashion, the London-based newcomer "uses her mixed-race heritage as a key reference in her collections." Wales Bonner takes a European and Afro-Atlantic approach to her designs, inspired by literature, music and history.
