U.S. Women's Soccer star Crystal Dunn reveals the first thing she does after a game

Self-care is important for everyone, but it becomes even more important when an entire nation's hopes and dreams fall on your shoulders.

Crystal Dunn knows that as well as anyone. The soccer star, who represented the United States in the 2016 Olympics and will be playing in her first World Cup come June, stresses the need for a regular beauty routine in order to stay healthy, confident and — for other athletes — ready to play.

"It's really important, especially as a female, to feel confident both on the field and, of course, off the field," she told AOL.com, on behalf of P&G and Walgreens.

After a long, exhausting game, Dunn says the first step she takes to freshen up and feel more like herself again is always washing her face.

"All that sweat just drips down from everywhere, your hair down to your face," she said. "Some people probably put a little [makeup] on their face and to wipe it off right after is so key."

Two other major parts of Dunn's beauty routine are Olay body wash and Secret deodorant — both of which are currently on sale at Walgreens, both in-store and online.

Ahead of the World Cup in France, Dunn listed the deodorant as one of her travel must-haves, as well as "anything that you feel like you can't get out of the U.S. — you might not have easy access to all the things you want to take with you."

Dunn, who plays for the North Carolina Courage, also emphasized the merits of a good body wash.

"I, personally, am training in North Carolina, so it gets really hot in the summer," she said. "When I want to pop in the shower after training, it's really important to have really good body wash."

Consistency in routine and products is a top priority for Dunn, especially as she works to get into a rhythm for the World Cup, which begins on June 7 and will last for a month. The United States is entering the tournament as defending champions.

The trip won't only be sweat and hard work for Dunn, though — her husband, Pierre Soubrier, is French, and she says she's looking forward to spending some time with his parents outside of the matches.
