Oh my gherkin, Vlasic is releasing pickle chips made from actual pickles

Gherkin gang, gather 'round.

Vlasic is cooking up a new way to let you snack on your favorite salty, low-calorie, mid-day treat without making a mess at your desk.

The company has announced it will be releasing a brand new "pickle chip" — but unlike pickle-flavored potato chips, which can be carb-heavy and oil-laden, Vlasic's new snack will be made using actual pickles, Food Business News reports.

"Pickles has (sic) always been a flavor that people have loved in snacks, whether it’s potato chips or even in our Bigs Vlasic dill sunflower seeds," said Thomas M. McGough, co-chief operating officer and executive vice-president of Conagra Brands, Inc., Vlasic's parent company.

"Pickles themselves are a great snack, essentially no calories or carbs," he continued. "But eating pickles out of a conventional jar is inconvenient and messy, and pickle snacks are actually becoming a thing, particularly in c-stores. So we’ve created Vlasic single-serve pickle slices and also a Vlasic vacuum-fried pickle chips that taste absolutely fantastic."

Although there's no word yet on when the 4.25-ounce bags of briny goodness will be released, one can only hope they hit shelves in time for BBQ season.
