Buckingham Palace shares rare pics of Queen Elizabeth in honor of U.K. Mother’s Day

Sure, Queen Elizabeth is the ruler of the Commonwealth, but she’s also a mom of four. So, in honor of Mother’s Day in the U.K. yesterday, Buckingham Palace shared a rare assortment of photos of the 92-year-old monarch parenting her now adult children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Between raising four kids and ruling the United Kingdom, we honestly can’t decide which is a harder job.

The palace tweeted, “Wishing our followers a very Happy Mothering Sunday! #MothersDay” alongside a photo collage of Queen Elizabeth and her kids.

As the Twitter account explained, “These photos show the queen with each of her children. From left to right with the Prince of Wales in 1950 at @ClarenceHouse, with the Princess Royal in Balmoral in 1955, @TheDukeofYork in 1960 also in Balmoral and holding Prince Edward in 1965 in Windsor. #MothersDay”

The photo taken of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles was captured before she even became queen, which didn’t happen until 1952 when her father, King George VI, passed away. Before becoming queen, Elizabeth resided at Clarence House with Prince Philip and Prince Charles. Today, Prince Charles, 70, lives there with his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles. Talk about full circle.

The snap of the Princess Royal and her mum shows the queen introducing her daughter to her favorite pastime. Since then, Princess Anne, 68, has become an avid equestrian just like her mother.

The photo of Prince Andrew definitely calls to mind pictures of Kate Middleton and Prince Louis during his christening, and the snap of Prince Edward practicing his royal wave proves the Cambridge kids aren’t the only ones who learned the family calling card from a young age. Hey, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

All we can say is, happy British Mother’s Day, Queen Lilibet.
