Bam! Emeril Lagasse is opening his first restaurant at sea.

Carnival Cruise Line announced on March 6th that it has partnered with the world-renowned chef and restauranteur to open Emeril's Bistro 1396 aboard its newest ship, Mardi Gras.

Lagasse's restaurant will be the located in the French Quarter zone, one of six themed zones aboard the ship, and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“I’ve developed restaurants all over the country, but to create my first restaurant at sea – on a ship named Mardi Gras with its own French Quarter, no less – was an opportunity I simply could not pass up,” Lagasse said in a press release. “I’m excited to be a part of this brand new ship and bring a taste of the flavors of New Orleans cuisine to the guests sailing on Mardi Gras.”

The menu will feature Lagasse's famous Creole cooking like his signature barbecue shrimp, fresh seafood ceviche, roasted duck and Andouille sausage gumbo, muffaletta sandwiches, oyster and cochon de lait po-boys and jumbalaya, with New Orleans classic Bananas Foster and lemon ice box pie for dessert.

Carnival has yet to announce everything we can expect from Mardi Gras, but we do know that the five other zones will include Grand Central, Summer Landing, La Piazza, Lido and The Ultimate Playground. The latter will feature BOLT, the first ever rollercoaster aboard a cruise ship.

Carnival Cruise Line's Mardi Gras is set to sale in August 2020.
