These moms paid a combined total of $72,000 to look like Meghan Markle

The trend of getting plastic surgery to look more like a celebrity is nothing new. Kylie Jenner's lips, Angelina Jolie's cheeks and Kate Middleton's nose have all inspired people to go under the knife. But more and more people are paying good money to look like the newest royal, Meghan Markle.

Last October, London-based physician Dr. Rita Rakus told InStyle that the duchess "has always been a beauty and style icon and someone that many women aspire to look like." She attributed it to people seeing "her as a real person who has fulfilled the ultimate dream — being young, having your own career, and finding true love with a prince."

Nonetheless, in a recent episode of ABC's "Nightline" that aired on February 25, two women who had dreams of looking more like the Duchess of Sussex spent months and thousands of dollars on plastic surgery to do so.

Renita, a real estate agent and mother of six, said people already told her that she looked like Meghan, but there were certain things about herself that she wanted to get fixed.

"I have an infatuation a little bit with Meghan Markle. I want to look like her. I want to have the body that I've always wanted. I mean, 10 years later after having kids and three c-sections, you're just not comfortable anymore," Renita told the reporter.

She further explained, "I know that I'm not going to look just like her. But at the same time, she has a lot of features that I admire and I would like them on me."

Renita received five procedures: liposuction, fat grafting to her buttocks, a breast lift with implants, rhinoplasty and a tummy tuck. In total, her 11-hour surgery cost $42,000.

Sochi, a lawyer and single mother of three, also hoped a new appearance would help boost her confidence and in turn, improve her dating life. She received three treatments in seven hours — liposuction, fat grafting to her buttocks and cheeks and rhinoplasty — coming in at $30,000.

Lucky for both of these women, they each received discounts from their doctor for appearing on TV so they didn't pay the full prices outlined above. However, these numbers demonstrate just how far people are willing to go to emulate Meghan Markle. Many spend the money to get her nose, cheeks, skin or lips.

After months of recovery, the women showed off their transformations at a royal-inspired luncheon and compared themselves to cardboard cutouts of Meghan. But whether or not they actually looked just like the duchess, they both admitted that just feeling like they have more of her attributes made them feel more self-confident.
