Gemma Chan stashed cookies in her dress' pockets at the 2019 Oscars: 'You don't get dinner'

Updated

Contrary to many awards shows, last night's Oscars actually had some food. The show reportedly served snacks by the bar including cookies and bags of seasoned nuts, and handed out doughnuts and coffee while celebs awaited their limos post-show. However, "Crazy Rich Asians" star Gemma Chan came prepared with snacks of her own.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Chan pulled a cookie out of her dress' pocket and revealed that she had already handed out rice crackers from the other.

"It's a long show and you don't get dinner, so yeah!" she explained.

Chan wore a parachute-like, ruffled hot pink Valentino gown and showed off the pockets earlier in the night on the red carpet. The gown was recently debuted on the brand's couture runway just last month (a show so beautiful it famously made Celine Dion cry).

Interesting enough, this isn't the first time a celebrity thought to bring snacks to a show during awards season. While attending the Golden Globes, Melissa McCarthy iconically handed out 30 ham and cheese sandwiches. "Next year, I'm bringing hot dogs," she told Variety.

You can see Chan's beautiful dress (and very useful pockets!) in the gallery above.
