NYFW: Michael Kors throws it back to Manhattan's West Side with Barry Manilow-fueled production

"Glamour, romance, individual style, New York's swinging West 50's in the seventies."

That's how Michael Kors described his show at the end of New York Fashion Week on Wednesday. Cipriani was decked out in disco balls, as models of the moment Kaia Gerber, Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid took the catwalk in Kors' retro-inspired designs.

For the powerhouse's upcoming season, disco and street style played heavy on inspiration. "New York was a pit, but we were dressed," the designer told Vogue at a collection preview.

It was the 1970s in the most theatrical sense: Fringe and shag jackets, pinstripe suits, wire-rimmed sunglasses, denim and sequins were just part of the production. Kors ensured the whole look was emblematic of the decade as well. We saw afros, we saw frizz, we saw the shag and we saw feathered bangs.

However, it was the final moments that cemented Kors' production as one of the best this season. Patti Hansen closed the show in a gold sparkle pantsuit. And just a few moments later, Barry Manilow took the stage with one of the decade's most notable hits, "Copacabana."
