Rebecca Minkoff looks to Ibiza for her Spring/Summer 2019 collection

Rebecca Minkoff has always had a modern approach to the runway -- and her Spring/Summer 2019 collection was no different.

From her see-now-buy now appeal (instead of the 6-month turnaround) to casting a diverse range of models, the American designer proved she knows exactly what the contemporary woman wants in her closet.

"We've had a diverse range of women for a really long time. I just feel like more people are becoming aware that what they're doing is not right. I think it's still unfortunately a conversation but, I want to show a diverse cast because that's my customer base. I want to show women of color, different sizes -- we want you here and want you part of this brand," Minkoff told AOL backstage right before her NYFW show at Spring studios.

The collection, made up of accessible and easy-to-wear pieces, was brought to life with strong shoulders and vibrant colors, while styling details lied within the the oversized belting and doubled-down purses.

"The jumping off point for the collection was Ibiza. The idea of there's a real freedom and the love movement started there, so just tapping into the idea of celebrating optimism, love, and really focusing on a modern woman. A modern woman as a lot of layers to her. We talk about this in our I AM MANY (a campaign Minkoff launched in September 2018), so how do you get that in clothing?"

"Whether we're using a print in different in fabrics and formats and layering them to the idea of strong shoulders and a cinched waist or playing with volume and proportion to show of how we view a women as strong and powerful," Minkoff added.
