Ulla Johnson's shearling coats over matching separates are the star of her Fall 2019 collection

Updated

Ulla Johnson designs with the modern woman in mind. Speaking of her Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection, she told Vogue, “I think all of us are all of these women. We don’t have this narrow vision of ourselves.”

The collection featured a range of silk gowns hand-loomed in India, crocheted colorful knits from Peru, Ulla's own resin tasseled handbags, ruffled dresses, leather pants and oversized plush shearling coats.

The coats were a standout — reversible and featuring hand crocheted stitching. Three different colors came down the runway, first in brown and orange, then navy, then white and green. Each were paired with matching separates.

Colors in the collection ranged from deep orange and marigold to sapphire and white, sprinkled with animal prints and large florals.

“It’s not just about creating products—it’s about making something that makes women feel beautiful and powerful," Ulla told Vogue. "For me it’s always about creating a sense of joy and optimism and exuberance.”
