Susan Lucci recovers gracefully after taking a tumble during NYFW

Updated

Just a day after it was revealed that she had undergone emergency heart surgery last fall, Susan Lucci is continuing to do her part to support heart health.

The "All My Children" actress walked in The American Heart Association's runway show on Thursday at New York Fashion Week, alongside Laurie Hernandez, Eve, Sherri Shepherd and Brooke Burke. Things didn't go as planned, however.

The 71-year-old soap opera veteran tripped over her strapless red Rubin Singer dress while walking down the runway and landed on the floor. Of course, the actress handled the slip with grace, quickly popping up with a laugh and a round of claps from the audience.

As a spokeswoman for the association's Go Red for Women Campaign, Lucci recently opened up about her scary experience which left her with two stents following a 90 percent blockage in her heart's main artery. Her doctor said that the actress is "lucky to be alive."

“We often put ourselves on the back burner. But if your body is telling you something, we need to pay attention,” she said to People about the experience.
