Halo Top introduces new 50 calorie ice cream pops, and you can try them for free

Halo Top, the high-protein low-calorie ice cream that was once toted as America's best selling ice cream, is introducing a completely new product to their already delicious line-up.

New Halo Top Pops are snackable mini ice cream pops that come in four different flavors: Mint Chip, Peanut Butter Swirl, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Strawberry Cheesecake. The latter is a completely new flavor for the brand, while the others are already tried and true favorites.

Each pop ranges from 50 to 60 calories and boasts 7 to 10 grams of protein, making for a great afternoon snack or a little after dinner treat.

In the past, Halo Top has received backlash for marketing its ice cream as "healthy" and using cheeky packaging to encourage consumers to eat a whole pint. Some nutritionists have said no ice cream is healthy and this is just a lower-calorie option; others have said one should never eat a whole pint of any ice cream in one sitting. With all that in mind, the pops are definitely the answer to better portion control (granted you don't eat the whole box in one sitting!).

Halo Top Pops are rolling out in stores beginning this month in the Midwest, Texas and California, soon followed by the Northeast. They'll also be coming to select national retailers starting in May 2019. However, if you can't find them at a store near you, starting today, February 5th, you can also buy and ship them from the online Halo Top Shop. Online, you can get four boxes for $48 (with six pops per pack).

To give fans a free taste test, Halo Top is hosting two giveaways on Valentine's Day. First, if you live in New York City, you can head to Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central — the brand is hosting a one-day only pop-up on the 14th. For those living outside of the city, fans can head to shop.halotop.com/pages/pop-snacks starting at 12 p.m. EST and the first 1,000 fans will win a free box of pops!

Although we gave these pops an early taste test and can confirm their deliciousness, most will agree, free food always tastes better.
