The idiot-proof way to not get a hangover during holiday season

You probably remember this handy rule from freshman orientation: If you choose to imbibe, alternate alcoholic drinks with water.

Lest you think that guideline fell by the wayside when you walked across the stage at graduation, think again.

According to Dr. Charles Passler, a nutritionist and founder of the Pure Change program, it's one of the keys to staying healthy during holiday-party season.

Dr. Passler advises having a glass of water or two before hitting any kind of booze. “This will prevent you from over-drinking because you are thirsty,” he added. If it’s less of a cocktail party situation and more of a straightforward seated dinner, Dr. Passler recommends not having an alcoholic beverage until dinner is served.

Same idea, different quality of drinks. (No offense, boxed wine.)
