Melania Trump unveils 2018 White House Christmas decorations

Updated

Christmas has finally arrived at the White House!

On Monday, the White House debuted their new holiday decorations in a minute-long video on Youtube, with Melania Trump showing off the intricate creations making up this year's theme of "America's Treasures."

"Our theme honors the heart and spirit of the American people," said the first lady. "Thank you to the many volunteers and staff who worked hard to decorate the halls of the People’s House in Christmas cheer. On behalf of my family, we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

This year's seasonal decor features red Christmas trees adorning the hallways, while glass ornaments of the White House and Melania's international "Be Best" campaign hang on its trees. The White House used more than 14,000 red ornaments on 29 trees for this year's celebrations.

Also included in this year's decorations are gold skylines of the country's most iconic cities and festive fake fruit in glass bowls. The White House Christmas tree, which was delivered last week, stands at 20-feet tall in the Blue Room.
