Holiday Heroes: Man gives out 6,000 turkeys to the needy for Thanksgiving

Every holiday has its unsung hero, and AOL's video series "Holiday Heroes" highlights those individuals who are making a difference in their communities.

Today, we're catching up with Norman Oliver -- or Stormin' Norman, as he's known around town -- from Wilmington, Delaware. Oliver has been serving his community for more than three decades. A project that started in 1981 with four turkeys for four homeless people under the bridge has since grown into 6,000 turkeys!

Oliver's project, where he delivers holiday meals and cheer to the less fortunate, has grown statewide to include hundreds upon hundreds of volunteers.

"It's a production!" Norman told AOL. "Now, we hit every Boys and Girls Club. We do all the senior high rises in the city of Wilmington, [and] a number of churches and synagogues and mosques."

"It's gotten so big now that we have police escorts that take us through from this county to the next county to the next county," he continued.
