NYFW: Tadashi Shoji shoots for the stars for Spring/Summer 2019

Updated

Galaxies, stars and celestial patterns -- that's what Tadashi Shoji seeked to incorporate in his ready-to-wear collection for Spring/Summer 2019 presented during Fashion Week.

Shoji's inspiration extended far beyond the exquisite dresses with celestial cut-outs and celestial-inspired jewelry adorning his models. The metallic shoes and reflective makeup, and even the chrome finishes, all played on Shoji's vision, down to the very last detail.

“Inspiration comes from space because there is so much depressing news every day, we need some kind of escape and some kind of hope," said the designer according to WWD. “So maybe in the near future, you can find some kind of hope," he concluded.

His design palette echoed this: a swirl of neon green and royal blues adorned the runway in slinky silhouettes, while fuchsias and purples followed in-suit.

Tadashi's elegant dress collection spoke to everyone in the star-studded venue, including Peta Murgatroyd, Tess Holliday, Heather Graham and soccer star Alex Morgan.
