NYFW: Milly's Metamorphosis takes the runway

Updated

Time and time again, Milly is one of those collections that we can actually see ourselves wearing right off the runway. Sometimes Michelle Smith is eccentric, and she likes to dabble with different colors, but without a doubt, it's a brand that reigns front of mind for some of our favorite and most wearable pieces fashion week has to offer.

And that's who Michelle Smith, founder and designer behind Milly, aspires to speak to with her designs. "She's vibrant, exciting," Smith said of "The Milly Girl." She's confident, empowered, beautiful inside and out," she explained to AOL Lifestyle.

Her latest creations for her Spring/Summer 2019 collection is all about transformation. Titled Metamorphosis, Smith notes that her designs are about so much more than just clothes. It's about "taking place within you, ready to break out and shine," dictated her show notes.

"It's about evolving into any stage of your life," she continued. "And it's exciting and vibrant and about embracing life."

From neon greens to vivid oranges, bumble bee yellows and hot pinks, Smith's mixing and matching of different palettes and mediums are another kind of transformation for the designer, especially in introducing different textures to complement varying silhouettes. Even her accessorizing, from shoes to G-SHOCK watches, were a perfect pair.

Color blocking, velvet jackets with metallic suits and neon knits are just some of Smith's experiments this season. "It's about feeling free and feeling open," the creative concluded.
