Kate Middleton isn’t allowed to run marathons for *this* (totally logical) reason

Between playing soccer in wedges and racing Prince William and Prince Harry, there’s no denying that Kate Middleton is the sportiest royal (sorry, Meg). But athleticism aside, she won’t be training for a marathon any time soon and the reason why actually makes a lot of sense.

Bryony Gordon, a journalist and friend of the royal family, stopped by the British talk show Loose Women and revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge isn’t allowed to partake in public 26.2 mile runs for safety reasons.

The Eat, Drink, Run author explained that she learned this interesting tidbit during her first hangout sesh with K-Middy at the London Marathon in 2017. When Gordon asked Middleton if she would ever consider running the race, the royal responded, “Oh no, security and all that,” to which she jokingly replied, “If I can do the marathon, you can.” That’s when the journalist added that Prince William reportedly promised to run a marathon in Kenya at some point in his life. Middleton’s response? “I’ll believe it when I see it!”

Since the 2018 London Marathon included 40,000 participants, it makes sense that being surrounded by that many sweaty plebeians would pose a threat to a royal family member.

We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for that Kenyan race, though, Wills.
