Celebrity hairstylist Rita Hazan reveals this summer's biggest color trend

Updated

When 'Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner chopped off her long, luscious red locks in favor of a blonde bob, little did we know that her drastic transformation would quickly become one of the biggest beauty trends this summer.

Embracing bright and bold colors is something that celebrity hairstylist Rita Hazan, owner of the prestigious Rita Hazan Salon out of Manhattan, foresees as this season's hottest crazes. Hazan, who boasts an impressive roster filled with A-list clientele like J.Lo and Madonna, pinpoints "bright blondes, natural roots and mermaid pastels" as the looks she's loving.

However, with all the laying out in the sun and dips in the pool, color wear-out and dehydration are inevitable. So that's why the professional suggests gloss as a way to maintain that color and "keep hair healthy."

"It’s like foundation for your hair," she explained to AOL Lifestyle. "From the natural progression of hair, the elements and styling – hair fades over time. Getting a gloss, whether in salon or at home, will help maintain the integrity of the hair. They prevent fading while also keeping the hair shiny and healthy. I also suggest a product that offers UV protection. UV rays do the same to your hair as it does to the skin."

"It gets dehydrated and is stripped of nutrients, and then you lose the pigment, [so] I made the Lock + Block spray for this very reason."

But you don't need to be a Hollywood starlet to get the star salon treatment. Aside from Hazan's hair line, which can be found at places like Sephora and Amazon, the stylist also relies on a variety of budget-friendly products that can be found right in your drugstore's beauty aisle.

Three products the stylist always has on-hand? "[I] love L’Oréal Elnett hair spray, Aussie 3-minute miracle conditioner, & TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum." BRB, adding that to our shopping list.
